Honeywell Replacement Humidifier Wicking Filter, Filter A (HAC504)
Question: How does my filter work?
Answer: Water from the Tank drains into the Reservoir, where the wicking filter absorbs the water. A fan blows pulls dry air from the room through the saturated filter, helping it evaporate into the air more quickly. This creates invisible moisture output and prevents over humidification because the humidifier cannot add more moisture to the room than the air can hold. The filter captures minerals in the water to help reduce white dust. In areas with hard water, the filter may become clogged with minerals more quickly and need to be changed more frequently.
Question: How do I install my filter?
Answer: Directions on changing your filter depend on the humidifier you have. Please reference your humidifier-s Owner’s Manual for specific instructions.
Question: How do I care for my filter?
Answer: To prolong the life of your wicking filter, turn it over each time you fill the Water Tank. This will keep the top of the Filter from drying out and will help the Filter to age more evenly. If you notice the filter getting hard, you may soak it in cool water to loosen mineral buildup. This will temporarily improve performance of the wicking filter until a replacement filter can be purchased. Never clean with vinegar or bleach or any other solution; doing so can damage the filter.
Question: When do I replace my filter?
Answer: It is recommended that you change your filter every 1-2 months depending on water quality and usage. Hard water areas will require more frequent filter changes, as mineral buildup will clog the filter. Any of the following conditions indicate that it is time to replace the Wicking filter: It is hard and crusty, it develops an odor, or moisture output is decreased.
