The water tank and water tray can be washed in a residential dishwasher operating at temperatures below 70 degrees Celsius/158 degrees Fahrenheit. It is recommended that you run the dishwasher on the light duty or normal cycle. Do not wash humidifier parts with soiled articles/dishes. It is recommended that these parts be washed in the top wrack of the dishwasher DO NOT USE DETERGENTS. Please note: Do not wash the main housing or filter in the dishwasher. Doing so will damage these parts.
There are actually a few different reasons this could be happening. First, check your filter. Make sure the filter is in good condition and is able to still absorb and hold water. If the filter is extremely hard or getting dried out all the time, this would indicate it is time to replace the filter. They generally last about 1-3 months, depending on usage and the quality of your water. Second, check the humidity level in your home. This type of humidifier is a self regulating evaporative system meaning it naturally adjusts output to the amount of moisture the air can hold at a particular temperature. If the humidity level is already at 60% or above you humidifier will emit very little moisture into the room air.
No, you cannot use oils or medications in this humidifier. Doing so will damage your humidifier
It is recommended that you change your filter every 1-2 months depending on water quality and usage. Any of the following conditions indicate that it is time to replace the Wicking Filter: It is hard and crusty, it develops an odor, or moisture output is decreased.
You can check your relative humidity level using a device called a hygrometer.
It is not recommended because the humidifier may not be able to raise the relative humidity levels in an area larger than recommended to an adequate level.
A comfortable everyday humidity level should be between 40-60%.
It is recommended that you clean your humidifier weekly.
This type of humidifier uses evaporative technology. The moisture droplets emitted into the air by this type of humidifier are so small they are invisible to the human eye. Dry air is pulled through the system and a fan disperses invisible, moisture balanced air. When operating normally you will feel only cool air coming from the unit. Monitor the water level in your Tank/ Base. If you notice a decrease in the Water Tank over 24 hours then the unit is operating normally.
