Air Purifiers

We can’t always control the things that occur out in the world, but we can take steps to help improve the space where we live and spend time. Choosing an air purifier is the first step in improving your air quality. Honeywell Air Purifiers help capture airborne allergens and particles to provide cleaner, fresher indoor air.

What Air Purifier is Best for You?

Why Purify the Air?

Air purifiers can go a long way in helping to capture airborne particles and overall improving your indoor air quality. This is especially important given that most people spend more than 90% of their time indoors. Some of the largest exposure to particles and allergens can occur indoors.

Primary sources of these particles can include dust, pollen, pet dander, smoke, certain viruses and bacteria and even VOCs from cleaning products and building materials. Particles range in size and can be small enough to travel into the lungs.

Consider the Type of Technology

HEPA – Certified HEPA filters capture up to 99.97% of microscopic airborne allergens and particles as small as 0.3 microns in size.

HEPA Type – These units have filters that help capture up to 99% of airborne particles as small as 2 microns in size. This technology is recommended for general air cleaning.

Electronic Filtration – This type of air purifier can capture up to 99.9% of airborne particles as small as 2 microns by negatively charging airborne particles with an ionizer that attract to a positively charged filter or plate on the air purifier. This technology features permanent washable filters and is recommended for general air cleaning.

Identify Your Room Size

Identifying where you plan to use the air purifier is important to determine the size of the product and the square footage coverage you need to ensure the unit is optimized to help clean the air in that space.

AHAM Verifide® air cleaners which are independently tested for their performance claims feature a recommended room size on the AHAM seal which can be found on product packaging.

Small – less than 100 sq. ft.

Medium – 101-200 sq. ft.

Large – 201-350 sq. ft.

Extra Large – 351+ sq. ft.

Maintaining Your Air Purifier

In order for your air purifier to work effectively, be sure to check and change/clean the filter(s) according to the manufacturer’s recommendations. Most air purifiers come with an initial supply of filters and instructions about which replacement filters are needed. During events where the unit is filtering out a higher concentration of microscopic airborne particles such as smoke, dust, and pet dander, the filters may require more frequent replacement.
